Emily Harrington — Dallas Matchmaker
I've been helping Dallas singles find serious relationships for 7 years, and the thing I hear most from new clients isn't "I can't find anyone." It's "I can't find the right anyone."
That's a different problem — and it needs a different solution.
Why I Started Dallas Matchmaker
I started Dallas Matchmaker in 2019 because I saw a gap that no dating app was equipped to fill.
Before I became a matchmaker, I spent 12 years as an executive recruiter and talent acquisition specialist at Dallas staffing firms. My entire career was built on one thing: understanding people well enough to make the right match. I got good at reading what someone was actually looking for versus what they said they wanted — and at finding the other person who fit that picture.
What I kept seeing in Dallas was driven, accomplished professionals who were excellent at everything except finding a real relationship. They were on the apps. They were meeting people. But the quality wasn't there — and neither was the coaching to help them understand why the same patterns kept repeating.
So I left corporate recruiting in 2019 to do what I'd already been doing professionally for years, but for something more meaningful: to introduce Dallas professionals to vetted, compatible singles from a real local network — not a national database of online profiles.
My Approach to Matchmaking
The first thing I tell every new client is that I'm not going to match you on paper. On paper, you might look perfect for someone who is completely wrong for you in person.
My intake process starts with listening. The 60–90 minute interview I do with every client isn't a checklist — it's a conversation. I want to understand not just who you're looking for, but why. What's worked in your past relationships, what hasn't, and what you've learned from both.
When I make an introduction, it's because I've thought about two specific people and believed there's a genuine reason for them to meet — not because they checked the same boxes.
The coaching sessions between introductions are where most of the real work happens. Dating is a skill, and like any skill, it improves with deliberate practice and honest feedback. My clients don't just get introductions — they get better at relationships.
